Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. She was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of high school after her parents split up to move into Los Angeles to live with her mother. They were struggling to survive at the time she landed her first role in acting in the film Rachel's Room's leading character. Her portrayal in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her an award nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost on which she was the main cast member for the first two seasons, and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to pursue the role of a greater part in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) in Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. The actress reprised her character as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played Shannon again in Lost's final episode and two other episodes. She also was a guest in the sixth season of Californication. The actress plays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars, who catches the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. She's a Gyllenhaal. daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), she is a bit younger that Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began in the teen years with minor roles in several of her father's films and appeared together with her brother in cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win an Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and in the love story Secretary (2002). Both movies were critically acclaimed. She gained wider recognition for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films that she was a part of in 2006. In 2009, she received a nomination as the best supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mother on screen in Crazy Heart. In the following years, she was in comedies and dramas such as Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 Other roles she has played include Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller), musicians in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as the role of the kindergarten teacher. In 2021 Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
